Morrison Foerster, the family of Melvin R. Goldman, and the Northern District Historical Society are honored to announce Joseph W. Cotchett of Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy as the first recipient of the Melvin R. Goldman Tribute Award.

Mel Goldman was a renowned lawyer and strategist across the full range of civil litigation, including securities and antitrust lawsuits. The Award was established to recognize an attorney who specializes in complex civil litigation and exemplifies Mel’s commitment to the legal profession. “Joe Cotchett’s decades-long career as one of the top trial lawyers in the country and his equally impressive commitment to the legal profession, the public interest, and philanthropic causes are qualities that Mel also embodied,” said Ragesh Tangri, Morrison Foerster partner and NDHS president. “We are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize Mel’s legacy and Joe’s many contributions as a lawyer and a public figure.”

A reception was held on May 15th in San Francisco.
